The UFC has signed undefeated Pennsylvania-based featherweight, Jim "The Kid" Hettes (8-0), to a contract according to his hometown newspaper, The Citizen's Voice. The 24 year-old is a BJJ and judo specialist and has finished all eight of his opponents by submission, with six of those submissions happening in the first round. Hettes was originally supposed to debut with the UFC last year at the TUF 12 Finale, but a minor league promoter refused to release him from his contract at the time, leaving him unable to sign a UFC contract then. No debut date or opponent has been set for him yet.
The UFC announced another fight booking tonight, this one for the UFC Battle on the Bayou card in New Orleans in September. Mackens Semerzier will meet Mike Lullo in a featherweight bout. The UFC announced via Twitter that Rani Yahya is injured, and will be unable to fight Dustin Poirier at UFC 131 in June. Replacing Yahya in the featherweight bout will be UFC newcomer, and former Cage Rage lightweight champion, Jason "Shotgun" Young, who trains out of Team Titan in London, England.
