Dream BWGP finalist Mazakazu Imanari has been forced to vacate his DEEP bantamweight belt due to his Dream commitments. The title will be up for grabs at DEEP 54th Impact on June 24th, with Hiroshi "Iron" Nakamura taking on Takafumi Otsuka. Katsunori Kikuno will defend his DEEP lightweight title for the first time against Nobuhiro Obiya at "50 Impact" on Oct. 24. The notoriously tough Obiya comes in riding a three-fight win streak, though he's only competed once in each of the past three years. Kikuno will look to bounce back from a split decision loss to "JZ" Cavalcante at DREAM.15 in July. DEEP boss Shigeru Saeki also announced that the 10th anniversary event will air live on SKY PerfecTV pay-per-view in Japan, and that a "big announcement" will be made on Oct. 5 when the full 15-bout fight card is revealed. DEEP bantamweight champion Masakazu Imanari will face DREAM/K-1 vet Daiki "DJ.taiki" Hata in a 135-pound non-title affair at DEEP's "50th Impact" on October 24. Imanari has won four straight bouts in DEEP since being eliminated from DREAM's 2009 Featherweight Grand Prix by eventual winner Bibiano Fernandes. Hata withdrew from the same tournament with an eye injury after besting Hideo Tokoro in the opening round, but has since dropped consecutive decisions to Mitsuhiro Ishida and Kazuyuki Miyata. Katsunori Kikuno (13-2-2) and Koichiro Matsumoto (10-2) held an open workout today at Tsuyoshi Kohsaka's Alliance-Square gym, where the two have been training together for their upcoming bouts. Last April, Kikuno KO'd Matsumoto to capture the Deep lightweight title; now, Kikuno (who regularly trains at A-Square) is helping Matsumoto (an Imada Dojo product) prepare for his shot at Deep featherweight champion Takafumi Otsuka (10-5-1) on July 3rd. Kikuno, meanwhile, faces "JZ" Cavalcante (14-3-1, 1 NC) at Dream 15 on July 10th. More photos at GBRing.

"I’ve been getting a feeling, like my previously innocent spirit has become a little distracted. When I realized this, I felt like something stretched and then snapped. It might seem like a small change, but for me it was huge. I feel that I can’t continue serious training, and to perform as a professional fighter in this condition. For me as a fighter, the most important things are 'feelings.'" Read Miku Matsumoto's statement on her retirement over at MMA Rising, as translated by Roxanne Modafferi.

A post on DEEP's official blog says that fans at tomorrow's "46th Impact" show at Korakuen Hall will hear a "historic" announcement, "not only for DEEP, but for Japanese MMA." On Twitter, Japanese blogger Gryphon first speculated that Shinya Aoki (who's managed by DEEP boss Shigeru Saeki) could announce the opponent for his first American bout. However, Tony Loiseleur mentions rumors of DEEP Women's Lightweight Champion Miku Matsumoto retiring, and an article on GBRing confirms that the announcement will be the retirement of a famous fighter.
