Thiago Michel Shines In Final Fight Before USA Debut On Saturday, World MMA Scouting Report #1 Lightweight Thiago Michel (9-2) got sent off in style, taking on Rodrigo Cavalheiro (2-1) in the main event of Brazil Fight 5 in Minas Gerais. Michel, a Belo Horizonte resident, was clearly the main attraction on the card, televised live on Combate TV, and he lived up to expectations with a highlight reel finish in the opening round. With a Bellator contract in hand, Michel is likely to make his debut for the promotion in the fall, and is considered a top candidate for the planned Season 6 lightweight tournament. Carioca On His Way To Bellator Too In other Scouting Report news, MMAJunkie.com reports that #5 ranked middleweight Bruno Santos has verbally agreed to terms with Bellator. The 24 year old grappler has cultivated a Fitchian eight fight, twenty eight round streak of decision victories since 2009. Fronted by Leland Roling

Erick Silva, the #3-ranked welterweight prospect on the 2011 World MMA Scouting Report, trains for his bout with Mike Swick, scheduled to take place at UFC 134 in Brazil. While the front kicks are a reminder of Steven Seagal's supposed teachings, Silva has utilized those types of kicks in his offense for most of his career. Source: Tatame TV

2011 World Scouting Report Update: May Recap by smoogy The latter half of May has been positively filthy with Scouting Report action, but the slow trickle of results coming in from the more obscure promotions has made the task of compiling an accurate, timely weekend recap difficult lately. In lieu of that feature's absence over the past two weeks, here is a jumbo-sized recap covering fourteen fights over the last three weeks of the month. A Special Achievement Award is in order for Konstantin Gluhov, who captured his second consecutive Warrior's Honor one-night-tournament title. Gluhov has won a staggering five straight tournaments in the last nine months: the two from Warrior's Honor (Ukraine), the Oleg Taktarov Cup (Russia), the UCFC 20,000 Euro, 16-Man Tournament (Austria), and the Pancrase FC Cup (France).
