JZ With Torn ACL, Out Rest of Year

Dream lightweight superstar Gesias "JZ Calvan" Calvancante was a recent guest on the Savage Dog Radio Show on Sherdog.com. During the interview Calvan confirmed he had a torn meniscus that was scoped before the Aoki fight. After the fight he was examined and a completely torn ACL was diagnosed. Surgery has been scheduled for May 16th and Calvan stated that there will be at least a four month rehab, and he is most likely out until the end the year.

With an an extended lay off due to the injury and rehab, JZ will probably be groomed to face the Dream Lightweight Grand Prix winner sometime in mid-2009, and Calvan stated he wants to fight for the title.

Shitty year thus far for JZ.  Hopefully he bounces back.

Re: JZ With Torn ACL, Out Rest of Year
The fight before last he draws a no-contest for an accidental illegal elbow and then he loses the rematch fight (granted against a terrific opponent). He does have a lot of wins, but against the proven fighters (Aoki, Hansen) are his losses. Now he gets injured and will miss the better part of a year and for some reason he expects there to be a title shot with his name on it waiting for him to take it? Uhh

Man, that's really a shame. Very bad luck for J.Z. Hopefully he doesn't fall the way of Shogun.

Hermit, I suggest you watch the Hansen fight.  I think Calvan was robbed.
