Snapshot of the Day: BJ Penn

"When I was cutting weight for my last fight against Joe Stevenson, we were in London trying to find water that I could drink; all their water had at least 5mg of sodium in it. I finally found one that had only 3mg, so I downed an entire gallon before reading on the label that there were 56.3 mg of sulfate in it. Stressing, I woke Jason to ask, "what the hell is a sulfate?!", but he didn't know. Rudy went upstairs to find out from someone else, but we ended up calling the nutritionist in Seattle. Turns out a sulfate is a salt of sulphuric acid. I started freaking out! I was at 158 before drinking the water. The nutritionist told me to not stress out, that I would make it worse although I was close to having a nervous breakdown. She told me to go to sleep and not stress too much. I told myself, 'This is a test; this is all part of being a champion. The fight is only a portion of it.' So I had to talk myself down and relax and concentrate on breathing to go to sleep. I woke up at 163 and cut back down to 155 pretty easily."

Re: Snapshot of the Day: BJ Penn
Tracy Lee is everywhere.

Wasn't she covering Urijah Faber's training in California like 2 days ago? And covering American Top Team in Japan 3 days before that?

Re: Snapshot of the Day: BJ Penn
Probably. Her work ethic is unreal.

Re: Snapshot of the Day: BJ Penn
how does she get all the dough to pay for the flights and stuff?  I know she stays with the fighters so accomodations and food are likely paid for but the flights alone, Japan, USA, Canada, Hawaii, etc etc would be pretty brutal on the wallet.

Does she sell the photos she takes?

Re: Snapshot of the Day: BJ Penn
Damn - BJ looks pretty good for this fight. For BJ of course. If Sherk looked like that we'd all be asking him to pass the donuts.

BJ's a good example of a guy who has clearly focused on weight-training for strength instead of size. He hits as hard as anyone in MMA while appearing to be made out of cookie dough.

Re: Snapshot of the Day: BJ Penn
Ah, BJ's diet typically is for shit based on reports that I've read.  It's a Hawaiian or Filipino influence. Lots of rice and pork.. Urijah was freaking in some of Tracy Lee's shots of their meals out with BJ while in Hilo.
