Not that different from what the Dog Brothers do, although these guys seem to take it a bit further into stupidity with the keyboards and shit

Adam Morgan made a great point: instead of beating the shit out of each other, shouldn't they just be training instead? You can get in better shape, learn a skill and get out all the aggression you need to. And that more healthy lifestyle will allow them to better manage stress in their day jobs.

Re: Inside The World of Underground Fighting
gints is actually a dog brother. they also have a couple of c-dogs and at least one c-cat.

and what if they don't want to train but still gain the release thereof? what's to say that this isn't valid. it's not like they're saying they're teh deadly or anything. furthermore, that shit just looks fun.

how do we know there isn't some elements of teaching involved anyways?

Re: Inside The World of Underground Fighting
I just emailed Dr. Kimmel to ask if this was real or not.  I'll let you folks know if he responds or not and what he says.  I didn't think it was a very insightful piece.  This club MIGHT have started in 1998, but we don't know that.  All the interviews were very recent, and the guys are making references that are very recent (e.g., the Martha Stewart statement).  Plus, the mens' statements about why they do this are straight out of a sociology textbook on men's studies, or from the Fight Club movie/book.  Even if ESPN thought this was real, I wouldn't necessarily buy the realness of the club itself.

Re: Inside The World of Underground Fighting
Dr. Kimmel was nice enough to respond to my e-mail.  He stated that he was in a studio while giving his commentary but that the ESPN reporter assured him it was real.  Still, Dr. Kimmel also mentioned, "Of course, they did what they typically do for the cameras, so I guess 'real' needs the quotation marks."
