Lots of Upcoming Matchups

Wanted to do a quick post to catch up on several important matchups being made:

DREAM 3 May 11 Tokyo Japan
Nick Diaz vs. Katsuya Inoue
Jason Miller vs. Katsuyori Shibata (Middleweight GP)
Melvin Manhoef vs. Kim Dae Won

They're still looking for someone to take the place of Shinya Aoki in the 2nd round of their lightweight tourny. Here's the current brackets. Wonder if Vitor Ribeiro will step up?

In addition to being excited about Mayhem Miller vs Shibata being a GP fight, Fightlinker was also stoked about Nick Diaz jumping on the card:

Also added to the DREAM.3 card is none other than Nick Diaz, who doesn't seem to want to wait until EliteXC's June 14th event to fight. He'll be taking on Katsuya Inoue, who actually seems to have some decent credentials to his name. The winner of this fight gets to face off against Hayato `Mach' Sakurai for the DREAM welterweight title.
However, I'm bummed because to me Mayhem should be fighting Melvin Manhoef in the tourny instead of each fighting scrubs and Manhoef being in the alternate bracket.

ELITE XC: JUNE 14, 2008 IN HAWAII
KJ Noons vs. Yves Edwards
Nick Diaz vs. Muhsin Corbbrey

Unfortunately the already postponed Jake Shields vs Drew Fickett welterweight title fight is off the card. This time due to an injury to Fickett

STRIKEFORCE: June 27 San Jose, California
Gilbert Melendez vs. Josh Thomson

This is a matchup that will actually matter quite a bit. I'd even say Melendez made the right call in sticking with Strikeforce rather than fighting in the DREAM GP. Thomson is easily as tough as anyone in that tourny and the winner of Melendez/Thomson can go fight the winner of the DREAM tourny or move up to the UFC no problem.

Re: Lots of Upcoming Matchups
Manhoef and Mayhem will more than likely meet up in the MWGP eventually. Manhoef's fight might be listed as a "reserve" match, but there is little doubt that he will be seeded in the second round.

DREAM.3 looks very amazing.
