Quote of the Day: Wanderlei Silva

Everybody likes my fight style but now I need to win... I'm working 24 hours a day for this fight.

Keith Jardine has a good style. He likes to fight standup and it's good for fans. It's more emotional. I love this. I think this is a good opponent for me. He has beaten many, he beat Forrest, he beat Chuck and he is a good name for me, a good match.

I’m going to prepare for his technique. I’m training a lot of Muay Thai. I'm training a lot of wrestling and Jiu-Jitsu. I'm prepared for every situation for this fight.

-- 'The Axe Murderer' breaks down his fight for UFC 84.

The odds:

  • B.J. Penn -265
  • Lyoto Machida -220
  • Wanderlei Silva -170
  • Sean Sherk +215
  • Tito Ortiz +180
  • Keith Jardine +140

Winner of Jardine - Silva to get a title shot? If Page keeps the belt and Wandy wins this. If Forrest wins the belt they'd probably give him Chuck regardless.

I'd venture to say if Jardine wins, then he's earned it.  Wandy needs to win a couple in a row first... which I'm hoping he does.

Re: Quote of the Day: Wanderlei Silva
Dana's such a Wandy mark that he'll give him the title shot sooner rather than later, because he wants him to either be the champ, or give him the shot at the champ before asking him to move to MW.

Man, I wish I gambled and that I didn't dislike Sherk's steroid abuse so much - that's some value right there at 215. And Jardine really has a pretty good chance of paying out given that 2 or 3 good punches are likely to open up that mass of scars Wandy calls a face. TheFightJournal was pointing out that Sherk has some scar tissue the other day, but every time Wandy steps into the cage there's the potential for "Fist of the North Star" style spraying.

Re: Quote of the Day: Wanderlei Silva
Title contention is a joke in the UFC. Sure Jardine beat Liddell, but they didn't care otherwise before that. If Jardine(big if IMO) beats Wand then he should be put up next, without question.

I was surprised that White didn't give Liddell a shot right after the Silva fight, as much as White is all over Liddell's junk. I honestly believe it's where the moneys at for the UFC, not who deserves a shot, in any weight class of the UFC.
