UFC News Bits

Tyson Griffin is fighting at UFC 86 in Las Vegas, and he may have a tough opponent.  Rumors going around are that the two leading candidates for the fight are Gray Maynard and Nate Diaz.  Florian is also an outside possibility, but I think a fight with Huerta in August looks more likely right now.

If I had to bet, I'd go with Nate Diaz.  He is the hottest thing coming off UFN 13, and there is some bad blood between the two.

According to Dave Meltzer's Wrestling Observer Newsletter, some interest indicators suggest UFC 82 did somewhere between 350,000 and 400,000 buys.  If true this would be a  succesful number considering the fact that Franklin/Silva only did 300k and Franklin is far more well-known than Henderson.  Silva may be starting to catch on as a draw.  I suspect the show did do surprisingly well given the high viewership numbers it did in the UK.  Part of it may have been new fans that came in for Lesnar sticking around to see UFC the next month.

Re: UFC News Bits
Well if Maynard and Diaz are the leading candidates then i think it's pretty safe to say that Griffin will fight Diaz.

Maynard and Griffin train together everyday and I think if Tyson had a choice he'd rather not fight Gray. And as you said, the bad blood between Diaz and the world (personified in this case by Griffin) should set up a very interesting fight which should push either fighter one win away from a title shot.

Best MMA Line Ever: Nogueira doesn't lose fights he just runs out of time.

Re: UFC News Bits
I removed it from the other news godzilla.

You said "You didn't believe Tyson Griffin would fight his teammate Gray Maynard".

Re: UFC News Bits
Griffin has been beating solid guys for the past year, with the exception of his loss to Edgar.  He will finally get some recognition if he beats Nate Diaz.  We'll see, I suppose.

Re: UFC News Bits
Looking at the numbers, by Franklin/Silva II it seems like Anderson had surpassed Rich as a draw
