Great time in Montreal

I had a great time in Montreal (barring the bizarre food poisoning).  It was my first time at a UFC show and it didn't disappoint.

I've never seen a crowd of that many fans, the weigh-ins alone were something to experience and set the stage of what the rest of the weekend was going to be like.  We got to the show on the day of the weigh-ins around 1.5 hours before the doors opened and the line went around 1.5 blocks, I expected that that was the end of the line but it then continued to grow around and down another 1.5 sides of the Bell Center.
The Q&A was with Dana White which was interesting, but sadly not many of the questions had a lot of meat to them (mostly idiots asking for autographs, pictures, etc).  He did reiterate his belief that Randy should give Nogueira a shot at the title like Sylvia did for him.  Did expect that the UFC will be going to Canada a lot more but likely not until the rest of the unsanctioned states (NY et al) were set to go, also seemed to hint they were planning on getting all of the important Canadian provinces sanctioned as well.
The pop for Franklin was pretty surprising, but against Lutter I guess I should have known better.  It's not surprising they'll keep Franklin busy (if even away from Silva) for the fan factor alone.
Was sort of irritated that Serra was booed mercilessly, would have liked to hear what he had to say but my feeling around the people I talked to is that a lot of them took offense to his "red wine and hockey" comments.
The main show was great, something really to experience because the feeling is pretty electric.  I was happy that the prelims were great (for once I got to see the fights that were the best).  It was a shame that the Goulet/Hironaka, Day/Belcher, Mia/Herman and Macdonald/Doerkson fight wheren't televised because they were really great.  I was most impressed with Day who really showed he took his debut seriously.  He was grounded pretty early by Belcher and used a crafty rubber guard to totally frustrate Belcher in mounting any serious offsense (though maybe I'm easily impressed, I thought Day looked great on the ground).  Once back on their feet Day attacked and finished Belcher in a great show of determination which won a lot of fans over.
I was a little disappointed that they stopped the fight with GSP/Serra early but it looked like Serra was taking a pretty good beating and I'm not sure prolonging the agony would have made much sense.
