BET's "Iron Ring" Ratings Are...Good?

Yes, good:

MMAPayout.com has learned that Iron Ring was the fourth highest rated series premiere in BET history. Despite an 11:00PM post prime time slot, the program posted a 20% increase in viewers over its lead-in. As a result, BET has moved the series to 10:30PM starting with tonight's episode. The series will now follow BET's highest rated series, College Hill.

Clearly the star power of the rappers is driving attention, but how much is the sport itself driving ratings? I honestly don't know. I also want to see how good next week's ratings are going to be. But as a start, this is impressive.

Re: BET's "Iron Ring" Ratings...
I know the MMA audience is smaller than most other sports, but the BET audience is small enough at that time slot that the general MMA fan curiosity may have had a little to do with that..  But I know that just about everyone I know who watches MMA tuned in to see what the show was all about.  So that probably spiked it a little bit too.  I'd say roughly 75% of them said they wouldn't watch it again.  So we'll see how that holds up over a few weeks.

I however will tune in just to give it another chance

I also doubt much of the MMA audience watch BET to regularly so that is a huge spike in new BET viewers along with their old ones. I think I'll probably keep watching it. The only thing worth watching on BET is The Wire and I watch that on HBO.
