Around SBN: Exclusive Interview with Offensive Line Coach Gregg Smith Bar-right-arrows

Talking Points about Crocop.

Just a bunch of random items I've found around Nokaut and Mirko's personal site, mirko-crocop.

  • Dream still has no opponent for him on 3/15.
  • He will continue to train in a cage, and train with UFC rules ie elbows, no knees to grounded opponent, when in the cage.
  • He considers himself a natural HW.  He said that right before getting in the cage with Kongo, he had lost 12 lbs ( 5kgs ) without explanation.
  • He would fight Gonzaga and Kongo again if offered.  He really wants to fight Kongo again, soon.  ( See below )

Star-divide

  • He no longer has a "retirement plan" like he did 2 years ago.  He will just fight until he cant train at his normally intense level.
  • He wants three fights in 08.
  • Marijan Zizanovic is his Muay Thai coach and Marcio Corletta is in charge of his BJJ.
  • He has nothing bad to say about Dana.  He felt he was treating with respect and professionalism by the UFC and understands his loss of value to them.  It's his goal to return again, with the fire he had while winning the OWGP.
  • He is not training wrestling, ug.
  • If given a choice of the UFC HW title, or beating Fedor, he'd choose Fedor.
  • He thinks that his recent nose surgery will signifigantly improve his game.  He says he can finally breathe out of both nostrils for the first time in awhile.
  • He says a mental block and low motivation were his primary reasons for losing lately, but thinks there was an issue with his training as well.  He says he has worked on a new part of his striking.  In a video I saw, he was using more standard Muay Thai knees and a more traditional karate style low kick kinda like Machida uses.
  • and lastly, well read it for yourself
"I have a message for Kongo. Listen, I though that you are a sportsman, a professional like everyone else in this sport. You were lucky enough to fight against me during the deepest crisis of my career. You probably ate a lot of vegetables and potatoes to look like that? I'll be back in the cage and I hope you will be in the opposite corner. Then we'll see for how long you'll be able to talk."

He's talking about the steriod comments made by Kongo.  Cheick basically said Mirko needed steriods to be successful, like when he was in Pride.  ( No susbstantiation of facts provided, Kongo just tossed it out there. )

Re: Talking Points about Crocop.
thanks for doing all the heavy lifting for me...... i'm still a mirko mark..... it's amazing the enduring effect that headkick on igor has, he could probably lose fights from now until the apocalypse, but i'd still want to see his fights, all because that was one of the first times i saw pride, (i think the very first was the liver kick to herring)...made a hell of an impression....
