My guess is that in this case it actually describes Mr Shapiro's reduced faculties and no one wants to use a pejorative adjective. Hence the use of the word 'special'."

Luke, I'm assuming you saw the recent controversy over Cuban's decision to ban bloggers (and credentialed media members associated with blogs) from the Dallas locker room over "space" issues.

I like Cuban, but sometimes it seems he's "one of us" only when it suits his needs.

basically ... the dallas morning news does a blog on their website about the mavs... they have the guy who does the blog credentialed separately from the mavs beat reporter for the DMN. Cuban said that he felt it was unfair to credential the guy for the DMN but not credential all the other BLoggers out there, so he yanked the DMN blogger credential.

i don't have a problem with it.... they are a main stream media outlet that is already credentialed to cover the team.... just have the beat writer do double duty and feed info to the blog. I don't think the paper's blogger should be treated better just because he is associated with the paper.

Here's the link, and Cuban's motivation might have been legitimate, but his decision did come after a blogger reported dissent within the team.

Most bloggers and writers of any kind are idiots, and anytime they write something "worth reading" it's typically something outrageously untrue or some kind of attention grabbing headline that has little bearing on reality.

Hard to find a truly good written article about anything in sports.

Someone who posts on a messageboard is catgeorically not a blogger. Running, maintaining and keeping a blog over time is completely different than posting a message or two a year on someone else's website.
