Brandon Vera =/= Truth

Mark Dion, the owner of City Boxing, details his victory over Brandon Vera in regards to their contract dispute:

Dion has demonstrated to the satisfaction of the California State Athletic Commission that he acted in the best interests of representing Vera. As a result, Vera has been ordered to honor the contract he signed with Dion, and pay Dion 1/3 of the purse from the fight with Tim Sylvia on November 2007, as well as $100,000 from future purses.

Sadly, it appears as though the face of greed has reared its ugly head as the motivating factor behind Vera's decision to split with Dion in an attempt to avoid paying Dion his just due.

Brandon Vera is right. It is a "fu*ked up thing" when someone lies to you, and then starts "talking sh*t about your cuz thier wrong." It now appears that Vera has a lot of explaining to do to all of his fans, friends, and family.....as well as considering a nickname change from "The Truth," to "The Liar."

Interesting to know what was really goin on with Vera during the whole contract hiatus.

Re: Brandon Vera =/= Truth
I'm obviously biased, but I've heard from folks very close to the issue that Dion was hated by a lot of people at the UFC. No one wanted to work with him.

Re: Brandon Vera =/= Truth
I'm very confident that the truth of this matter isn't exactly as describe above, regardless of the ruling made by the CSAC, who, as I recall, aren't exactly known for their incredible decision-making abilities.

The "$100,000 from future purses" is sort of ambiguous. Over how many future purses is this amount spread? What if Vera, God forbid, suffers a career ending injury against Werdum. Vera forfeits his entire (presumed) purse to Dion? Or, assuming Vera fights at least three more times under his current contract (which appears to be $100k show/$100k win), does he continue to pay 1/3 of his purse until the $100,000 sum is met? What were the terms of their contract?

Everyone should click the link to the cityboxing site and read through everything given there.

Re: Brandon Vera =/= Truth
1/3 is a lot.  I'd be curious about how much of an investment was put into Vera.

If he was treated like most fighters... I would guess not very much of one.
