Frank Mir Talks Brock Lesnar; Brock Lesnar Talks Himself

First up: Frank Mir. Here's Frank Mir looking disarmingly confident for a guy facing an Orc in a cage fighting match. Be that as it may, Mir at least appears to have a healthy attitude about himself and the strengths/weaknesses of Brock Lesnar:

Next up is Brock Lesnar. For all of his shortcomings and brash talk, you always get the sense that the "wrestlers' ethos" is still very much a part of his life. He talks big, but he acknowledges challenges and acknowledges what is required - specifically - for success. Interestingly, he references Randy Couture without even saying his name. God, the UFC can be so lame sometimes:

I don't see anything wrong with avoiding giving extra publicity to a guy trying to get out of a contract with your organization.

There are infinite reasons to say it's "ok" just as it is to say the opposite. But for my money, it's juvenile, defensive and completely unnecessary.

And while I like Joe Rogan and Mike Goldberg, this is the sort of tactic that makes me want to see someone other than the UFC give themselves press.

Re: Frank Mir Talks Brock Lesnar; Brock Lesnar Tal
Yeah it's simply childish at this point. Honestly, if it was a much lesser known fighter who Lesnar felt the need to mention in his interview but the UFC didn't want to give said fighter press due to the situation, I could see it. But everyone knows who Randy Couture is. Of course hardcore MMA fans do, but so do casual ones, as well as your average sports fan, ESPN addict, male between 18-34, badass fan, Scorpion King fan, Brett Favre fan, and basically anyone of average intelligence living in the US who is not considered a senior citizen knows who Randy Couture is. Not allowing his name to be said makes you look childish as a company and everyone sees what you're trying to do: "Waaah Waaah we're mad at you Randy so we're not going to say you're name, just like that scary dude from Harry Potter!"

While that was entertaining, I really don't think it's a remotely big deal.  Sure, it's petty, but why should I care?

I think Frank Mir has every reason to be confident: He may lose the fight, but he's got a much better chance of passing the piss test. :-)

Look at Lesnars facial structure.  See what I see?
