M-1's potential

Monte Cox recently did an interview on the Savage Dog Show over at Sherdog.

In the interview, he talks about the possibility of Fedor/Barnett in November, and talks a lot about M-1's future.

One problem for them is Fedor is making 2 million dollars per fight.  As he says, when you have that kind of salary, gate just isn't going to be enough. It's a little discouraging that he says 200k buys would be necessary to break even for Fedor/Barnett. I think that fight breaking 60 would be a big shock.   Without TV, it's going to be very hard to make it up on PPV without losing a ton.

Regardless of business problems, it's still exciting to have a new promotion with such a great fighter starting up.  Monte Cox sounds like a pretty good guy, and he's very entertaining.

Hopefully they lose their shirt on the deal, go under and Emelianenko ends up back on the market.
