Bob Sapp, Fighting in Strikeforce, Calling Out Fedor

Strikeforce is announcing that former NFL benchrider and "super-star in Japan" Bob Sapp will be pummelling, I mean taking on Jan "The Giant" Nortje at their Feb. 23 event at the Tacoma Dome. Nortje is a can's can -- he's 1-5 in MMA and 6-13 in K-1 kickboxing rules, but 10-0 in boxing.

But Sapp's not stopping there, he's calling out the #1 fighter in the world, Fedor Emelianenko:

Sapp said his desire to fight Emelianenko was whetted after watching him struggle early during last month's submission victory over the much-bigger Hong-Man Choi in Japan. At 6-0 and 235 pounds, Emelianenko also would have a considerable size disadvantage against the monstrous Sapp (6-6, 360 pounds).

"When I see what Emelianenko did against Choi, it shows how good he is but it also showed his weakness against larger opponents," Sapp said. "I'd love to fight Fedor."

Sapp said he is set to sign a new contract with K-1 and that the Japan-based kickboxing promotion has plans to work with M-1. Such an arrangement could ultimately lead to a Sapp vs. Emelianenko dream bout either in Japan or the U.S.

Seems to me that this could be a huge draw in Japan, especially with K-1's broadcast TV deal. Sapp can be seen in the pic above working out with his world-class training partners.

Indeed.  That's all he has left at the moment.  Hopefully he manages to lose to Sapp.  That would be fun.

Re: Bob Sapp, Fighting in Strikeforce, Calling Out
Sapp has beat Ernesto Hoost so he is not as much of a can as Hong Man Choi.

But he is also known for taking dives and lacking fighter spirit.

But he has fought a lot of top names, somehow.

After his fight with Aerts like 4 months ago or something where he obviously took a dive from that 1 knee, I have lost a lot of respect for him.
