EliteXC: Kimbo Vs Tank

One thing to note about the poster, it looks like Gina Carano is not fighting on Feb. 16th. It will be interesting to find out why.

I'm sure this will be popular with the unwashed masses, but it just doesn't appeal to me at all.

I'd rather see Kimbo in there with a guy that is quasi-washed up... or good.

Re: EliteXC: Kimbo Vs Tank
Also... I thought that "Tank" was the nickname.  Now it's his first name.

So Kevin Ferguson vs. David Abbott becomes
Kimbo Slice vs. Tank Abbott.

This screams WWE.  I don't like it.  Also, I think that Ferguson has real potential and I'd rather see him in there with a younger, hungrier guy.

Re: EliteXC: Kimbo Vs Tank
I have no problem with it -- Tank will sell tickets and Kimbo still needs cage experience, he's only had 1 pro fight and one exhibition after all. He does have real potential and I expect him to crush Tank entertainingly and then work his way up through a few more cans before eventually fighting Antonio Silva sometime in 2009.

Re: EliteXC: Kimbo Vs Tank
There is no chance Kimbo will be fighting Antonio Silva, not even by 2009. The difference is skill level on the ground is more than Kimbo can possibly make up for in a year or even 3.

Re: EliteXC: Kimbo Vs Tank
It would really depend what direction EXC wants to go.  If Kimbo looks great against cans but the people in charge see nothing in the long run for him they may decide to sacrifice a hot fighter to make someone else look good i.e. throwing him in with Silva.

If they want to continue to ride the gravy train (assuming the novelty doesn't wear off) then Kimbo will continue on or whatever...

Re: EliteXC: Kimbo Vs Tank
Yeah, I think that Antonio Silva is pretty fierce at 265.

WTF?  When did Tank trim his goatee?
