Rampage "Sitting Out a While"

Steve Cofield's site has a clip of Dana White answering whether or not Rashad gets a shot.

Rampage is out for a little while...we got some plans, can't talk about em yet, but we got plans for him....and no it won't be Rashad.

I've heard from some pretty reliable people that UFC is looking seriously at tapping Rampage and Forrest as TUF coaches for season 7 of The Ultimate Fighter.  Entertainment-wise, that would be awesome, but it sucks that we won't get a Rampage defense for almost a year since his last.  I guess it makes sense though, since both guys are hurt, might as well make some use of them.

The season is scheduled to air in April, so the fight would probably be in July or August, if this is true.

Update [2007-11-18 21:20:44 by Kid Nate]:

Karo Parisyan is saying there's talk of Karo and Jon Fitch being coaches and then having a #1 contender match afterwards.

What are you guys' thoughts on the reliability of CompuStrike's statistics?

Re: Rampage "sitting out a while"
I think they're kind of meaningless in MMA.  In boxing, since it's all punches, the strikes tell more of a story, but the stats often completely understate what happened in a MMA fight.  Look at the stats on the last Silva/Frankin, and then look at the fight.

I'd be happier with Karo and Fitch as coaches, since we'd get to see Rampage and Forrest fight sooner.  Karo's also a very entertaining guy.  However, I dunno, just thinking about the logistics...if they fight in July, then the winner gets a title shot in October or November, thats yet another year with 2 welterweight title shots.  It's getting a little ridiculous.

Re: Rampage "Sitting Out A While"
Is it actually negotiating occuring or is this more Karo just saying that he would like Fitch and him to be fighters on the ultimate fighter. They way I understand it, it is more of the latter.

From listening, it sounds like he just heard it somewhere but it's not official or anything.

Re: Rampage "Sitting Out a While"
Karo and Fitch are 170.  This season is 170.  End of story.

Re: Rampage "Sitting Out a While"
Great, a whole season of Karo saying "BRO" over and over again. Another reason to stop DVR'ing TUF.

Re: Rampage "Sitting Out a While"
This upcoming season is not 170, it is middleweights, 185 lbs.
