Legend FC 7 Fight Videos and Results: Bieke Takes Bantamweight Title, Bae Myung Ho Defends Welterweight Crown
In cased you missed Legend FC 7 this past weekend, the videos of all the fights from the entire event are after the jump, and here's a quick recap:
Legend FC's seventh show happened in the City of Dreams, in Macau, and it had two title fights headlining the stacked card. Sanda fighter, Jumabieke Tuerxun or 'Bieke' made the jump from top prospect to champion as he defeated decorated Chinese Wrestling champ, Yao Honggang to take his bantamweight title.
Bieke, who is a standout of Xian Physical Education University, looked to have benefited greatly from Team Quest's visit on their camp as he looked sharp on the ground, scoring multiple takedowns and beating the decorated Chinese Wrestling champion at his own game. Yao's striking looked to have improved, and it's probably a result of his training camp in Vegas, but it wasn't enough to derail Bieke rise to the top. Tuerxun improved his record to 11-0, and cemented himself as one of the top fighters in the region.
On the main event, the 'Wolverine' Bae Myung Ho (13-5), bucked what appeared to be a prior knee injury and still successfully defended his welterweight title against China's top welterweight, Li Jingliang. The Korean, who is known for talking a lot of smack, backed up all his words as he constantly out-struck and out-worked the Chinese fighter en route to a decision. This was Bae's 5th straight win, and he remained undefeated since joining Legend FC.
Also on the main card, Yang Hae Jun (7-2) displayed much improved boxing skills as he constantly peppered Hideto Tatsumi, until he scored an impressive finish that won him the Knockout of the Night honors.
Two Filipinos shined on the prelims as rising star, Mark Striegl (7-0) avenged his teammate's loss by choking out Ev Ting unconscious, and Agustin Delarmino (5-1) quickly dispatched of Sung Min Yen.

Luke Thomas and I have been doing these video chats for a couple of weeks over at MMA Nation and now I'm dragging them back to BE. We're calling them The MMA Tete-A-Tete: Coarsening the Discourse and you can see the whole collection on Luke's YouTube playlist.
In this installment we talk about the marketing of UFC 143 and make our predictions for Nick Diaz vs. Carlos Condit.
We also discuss:
- What's going on with SBN MMA, ie Luke's move to MMA Fighting and what's happening to MMA Nation
- The Fox/FX/Fuel TV deal so far
- UFC 143 PPV prospects
- The mis-marketing of Nate Diaz and Nate's idea for an NFL Films style of UFC documentary film-making.

Video: 'Fight Factory' Documentary An Inside Look On AKA's Cain Velasquez, Phil Baroni And Mark Ellis
I usually don't get to read a bunch of tweets due to the sheer number of people I'm following (just so I can get you your weekly How's Taste My Tweet Tweet compilation). Today though, I woke up and noticed that I had a mention from Phil Baroni asking me what I thought about this AKA documentary called 'Fight Factory'.
I read the description of the video which said something a bit cheesy, but also expected, when it comes to companies trying to convince you to watch their show:
Picture all six Rocky flicks rolled into one and with a punch of "Brown Pride" added in and you'll get an idea of the unrelenting wallop of Fight Factory.
The documentary revolves around the inner workings of the top MMA gym, American Kickboxing Academy, their coaches, and their fighters.
I truly expected it to be like those run of the mill MMA training documentaries that pops up every now and then, but a few minutes in, and I surprisingly didn't find that urge to press the close button on my browser. In fact, even if I already knew the results of the bouts I still kept watching intently just to see how it all unfolds.
Cain Velasquez is the most popular guy in the 'cast', so they're naturally focusing the marketing on him and his preparation for that UFC on FOX bout against Junior dos Santos. To be honest though, apart from the bit where Cain discusses and confirms that he sprained his knee in training, the more interesting bits on the episode where definitely from the story lines on AKA's other fighters Phil Baroni and Mark Ellis.
They show Ellis and the struggles of a new fighter who is having trouble dealing with the physical, and more importantly, the mental issues of switching from being a dominant wrestling champion, to a rookie who is struggling to make it in MMA. They also show Baroni, a veteran trying to come back months too early from surgery because he needed the cash. A fighter who doesn't feel welcome in a camp that he has been part of for years, and has been dealing with people telling him he's washed up and should retire.
We hear and read about these conflicts all the time, but the makers of the film were able to capture and present it well, giving us a look first hand on how these fighters cope and deal with those issues.

Haywire's Gina Carano Tells Conan O'Brien How MMA Is Like Sex
Former Strikeforce women's 145lb champion Gina Carano was on Conan O'Brien last week to promote her new movie Haywire. Gina was a somewhat hesitant interview, telling O'Brien she'd "rather get punched in the face" than do an interview.
But she did open up when he reminded her of a previous statement she'd made comparing cage fighting to having sex. Here's the exchange:
Conan O'Brien:"I want to know why that's true, in great detail."
Gina Carano: "If you think about it, it's a very real interaction between two human beings, and it's like an energy. You have a real energy really, and I have an energy, an energy that nobody else is going to share."
Carano also told O'Brien that her original inspiration for getting into MMA happened when she was "sitting around drinking 40's with a boyfriend" and that at her first visit to a Muay Thai gym a Thai trainer walked up to her and said "oooh baby, you too chubby."

Video: Opening Scene Of 'Haywire' Released Featuring Gina Carano And Channing Tatum
Following her loss to the wrecking machine that is Cristiane Santos, Gina Carano quietly walked away from the sport of MMA. It turns out that though she was all but retired, she was staying busy with the filming of the Steven Soderbergh spy-thriller "Haywire". Carano was cast in the leading role as the film's protagonist, a CIA operative cut loose from the company.
The movie's release was pushed back multiple times before settling into January 20th as the official release date. This usually is the kiss of death for a blockbuster that was originally intended for a summer release. The fine folks at Relativity Media have decided to release the first five minutes of the movie where Carano and Channing Tatum fight in a roadside diner.
The official plot via wikipedia:
Freelance covert operative Mallory Kane (Carano) is hired out by her handler to various global entities to perform jobs that governments can't authorize and heads of state would rather not know about. After a mission to rescue a hostage in Barcelona, Mallory is quickly dispatched on another mission to Dublin. When the operation goes awry and Mallory finds she has been double crossed, she needs to use all of her skills, tricks, and abilities to escape an international manhunt, make it back to the United States, protect her family, and exact revenge on those that have betrayed her.
