Georges St-Pierre is still undecided whether he would eventually come back from his extended layoff or not, but a fellow long time UFC welterweight champion had some friendly advice for him. Matt Hughes spoke about St-Pierre, and despite now holding a VP job with the UFC, he thinks one of the promotion's biggest stars should just 'get out' and hang it up for good.
"The UFC would hate me saying this but I’m going to say it anyway. If I was GSP, I’d probably hang them up," Hughes told Canada.com, "Here I am a guy that lost my (last) two fights and I’d love to get back in there (to finish on a win). And Georges got his hand raised the last fight. So if I had to give advice, I’d say, ‘You want to get out? Get out.'"
"He’s made a lot of money. I don’t know what he makes a fight, but he’s made a lot of money. He made a lot more money than I have, and I’m retired. So he could step back, retire. He’s got plenty of money."
Apart from fighting, St-Pierre also has other avenues to make a living, with Hughes citing GSP's recent appearance as a villain in the latest Captain America movie.
"So there’s not many reasons for him to come back. You tell me what’s he got to come back for?"
Apart from the mentioned 'personal issues' or lack of 'drive', St- Pierre also recently suffered a second ACL injury during his time off. While he showed he can come back strong from such injury, he also has nothing more to prove after almost a decade at the top of the sport.
