The UFC arrived in Albuquerque, New Mexico for the first time in the promotion's history and featured a compelling fight card that provided fans with a variety of finishes and entertaining scraps. While there were several lackluster contests and controversial decisions, it was an enjoyable night of fights overall.
"Smooth" Benson Henderson secured his position as the top lightweight behind champion Anthony Pettis with a big win against Dagestan native Rustam Khabilov. While the former WEC and UFC champion was under siege during portions of the fight, he managed to weather the storm and finally found his opening in the fourth round of the contest. His submission win marked his first finish since stopping Donald Cerrone back at WEC 48. This is also his third bonus in the UFC.
Piotr Hallmann defeated Yves Edwards via submission in a bout that was riddled with eye pokes and frustrating interruptions. Apart from that, he pushed the pace with his striking and controlled the contest with his superior grappling before sinking in a slick rear-naked choke for his second UFC win in three attempts.
Scott Jorgensen secured his position on the UFC roster with his decision win over Danny Martinez on the preliminary portion of the card. The bout was an entertaining scrap, as Martinez was close to ending the contest early in the second round, but Jorgensen recovered and pushed the pace later on in the fight. Jorgensen has now won three bonuses during his time with the UFC.
