Like most people who watched Fight Night tonight, I'm outraged by the decision rendered by the Judges in the co main event.
Since I didn't drink any alcohol tonight, i decided to send an email to the NM Athletic comission thanks to the address that Crazedfan posted in the recap thread of this fight.
English is not my first language so I tried to keep it simple but really needed to express my sentiment.
Here is what I wrote
To whom it may concern,
As an avid Mixed Martial arts fan, I have witnessed a lot of decisions that I found difficult to agree with.
The decision rendered by the judges tonight for the Ross Pearson / Diego Sanchez fight is probably the worst I have ever seen.
I will not delve into a long analysis of what took place because I fear it would be a waste of my time as well as yours.
I will say this: Ross Pearson outstriked Diego Sanchez for three rounds and even knocked his opponent down, which is usually a sure way to win a round.
Diego Sanchez landed nothing of note on his opponent and since there was almost no Grappling, couldn't have won this part of the fight.
Judge Jeff Collins who, from what I heard, is a very unexperienced judge when it comes to Mixed Martial Arts gave three rounds to a fighter who did not have any moment of domination in either of those rounds.
Judge Tellez gave two rounds to Diego Sanchez, which is also more than questionable.
The third judge, M. Rosales, gave three rounds to Ross Pearson (which was the correct scoring) therefore having three cards with different scores, two of them being the exact opposite of the other.
All observers scored this fight in favor of Pearson, who deserved to win this fight and got robbed of not only the opportunity to further his career and cement his status with the UFC but also of half the pay he should have received.
These fighters train very hard and risk their health to make a living and entertain us fans and depriving them of what they earned is not only wrong in the sporting sense but also immoral in my opinion.
I hope that actions are taken and guidelines are put in place to prevent such an issue in the future.
I would love the New Mexico Athletic Comission to contact Mixed Martial Arts website such as MMafighting.com or Bloodyelbow.com offering a statement explaining in details why this decision was rendered tonight.
Thank you for taking the time to read this email and if you were to reply, that would be greatly appreciated.
Obviously, I'm not expecting anything from them and that gesture might have been a waste of my time and theirs.
I do think however that if enough people do send them respectful emails, it might prompt them to take some actions, like at least releasing a statement explaining the logic behind their decision.
Thanks for taking the time to read it and of course if you feel that I did a bad job or disagree with what I wrote feel free to express your opinion in the comments.
