MIGUEL COTTO VS. SERGIO MARTINEZ LIVE RESULTS:
Round 1 - Wow. What a beginning that was. Cotto took control from the start and never let up, dropping Martinez a ridiculous 3 times in the opening round. He's landing everything clean. It will be a miracle of Martinez lasts much longer. 10-6 (!) Cotto
Round 2 - Still a Cotto round, but Martinez at least somewhat back in it. He's still struggling with movement, which is bad, and he's getting caught for it, but he didn't get tagged as much here. None the less, 10-9 Cotto.
Round 3 - Martinez starting to fight like Sergio Martinez, using movement to connect. Cotto cut him off well and landed the heavier shots to take the round, but the gap is closing and Martinez is, amazingly, making this a fight. 10-9 Cotto; 30-24 after 3.
Round 4 - Cotto hurts Martinez early in the round, but this time the champ manages to keep his feet. Martinez clearly gaining in confidence, even as he gets hit. 10-9 Cotto.
Round 5 - Cotto slowing the pace down a bit here, but continuing to be the more offensive and effective fighter. Really mixing up his punches, which is paying off well. At the end of the round, Sergio has some nice combos that land, showing that he's not done just yet. 10-9 Cotto.
Round 6 - Martinez starts the round by landing some clean shots. For the first time, he seems to impact Cotto just a bit. Cotto comes back from it and looks good with some nice power shots, but Martinez is finally connecting. 10-9 Martinez. 59-52 Cotto after 6.
Round 7 - Cotto showing off the improvements he has made under Roach here, as he outboxes Martinez. Nice, clean, technical footwork, offense, and defense (rare for Cotto). Not as spectacular as round 1, but Cotto looked good here. 10-9 Cotto.
Round 8 - Nice jabwork from Martinez here who lands a number of clean rights. But Cotto continues to keep hitting that left hook, which is more effective. 10-9 Cotto.
Round 9 - Another big round for Cotto. He's landing big hooks, uppercuts and body shots, beating Martinez up badly. This is getting ugly, with Martinez unable to land anything clean. Sergio's knee hist the canvas and a knockdown is ruled. Martinez argues, but really, does it matter? 10-8 Cotto.
Bell rings for round 10 and Martinez's corner waves it off.
