Yesterday Bloody Elbow ran an article (via Radio Globo) where UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo spoke about a supposed joke that Team Alpha Male made following T.J. Dillashaw's UFC 173 win over Renan Barao. Aldo is a teammate of Barao's at Nova Uniao and wasn't too happy about someone apparently saying that Barao should sign up for a Duane Ludwig kickboxing class.
Mendes turned to Twitter to respond:
Aldo (24-1) and Mendes (16-1) first met at UFC 142 in early 2012, and Aldo picked up a knockout victory with a knee at the end of the first round. Some saw it as controversial due to a cage grab by Aldo right before the knockout blow. Aldo has defended his title three times since then, most recently defeating Ricardo Lamas by decision at UFC 169. Mendes has won five in a row since then, finishing four of them by KO/TKO.
