Sweden has a new MMA champion, as Zebaztian Kadestam took the vacant PXC welterweight title with a win over Guam's Josh Calvo. Training out of Ole Laursen's Legacy Gym in the Philippines, Kadestam once again showcased his striking as he picked apart the BJJ blackbelt en route to a comfortable decision win.
With the victory, the Swedish prospect improves to 6-1, going a perfect 4-0 with Pacific X-Treme Combat. Calvo on the other hand, had his 3-fight winning streak snapped, and the 25-year-old now drops to 8-4 in his career.
The PXC welterweight belt was last held by Korean slugger Hyun Gyu Lim prior to going to the UFC. With the promotion being known for having a 'UFC-out' clause in their contracts, it wouldn't be inconceivable to see Kadestam eventually follow the path which former PXC champs like Lim, Michinori Tanaka and Louis Smolka took down the road.
Also on the card, former PXC bantamweight champ Crisanto Pitpitunge, won his flyweight debut with a decision over Josh Duenas. After losing his title to the newly signed UFC bantamweight in Tanaka, the Team Lakay product in Pitpitunge is now looking to make a run at that flyweight title that is still up for grabs since Smolka signed with the big leagues.
Prospects Yusuke Yachi and Kyle Augon also picked up quality victories on the line up.
