I thought my first fanpost would be one of a more serious nature, a post of journalistic significance, pulitzer prize and all that. But our dear new mod Victor Rodriguez got me thinking that I might be better off writing about something else to introduce myself. What Victor Rodriguez did (if you for some reason are interested) was just that he replied to one of my comments with a "Boy, you sure are fun", all sarcasm of course. So I thought that I, instead of changing how we perceive journalism with some boring fighter pay article, am going to dedicate my first fanpost to telling you how I got in to this sport.
All my life I´ve been training some kind of martial art, judo, wrestling, kyokushin and bjj. Loved it all, but grappling is what I live and breath. Training and competing in different combat sports never really was what got me in to watching fights though.
As a kid growing up in Europe the possibilities to watch high level mma live almost did not exist unless you were willing to stay up at 3am, searching for a good enough stream that showed a pride or ufc card. Needless to say it was just too much work, not enough gain for a sleepy halfway narcoleptic teenager. What existed however, and it was very accessible, was youtube. Youtube where hundreds of nerdy fans posted highlight reels of their favourite fighters accompanied by their favorite, often shitty, music. And I loved it. Just between the age of 13-15 I must have watched hundreds of hours of highlights.
So today I went back to my roots and looked up some highlights on youtube to share with you all. Some are really ambitious and some are just clips with music. Nevertheless enjoy!
