Ryan Bader vs. Ovince St. Preux to headline UFC Fight Night card in Maine

Jason Silva-USA TODAY Sports

The UFC's debut event in main now has a main event, which will feature Ryan Bader taking on Ovince St. Preux.

At the UFC 174 post-fight press conference, light heavyweight winners Ryan Bader and Ovince St. Preux were asked about fighting each other next. Both readily agreed to the idea, and it seems that the UFC liked the matchup as well. So they booked it for the main event of the UFC's first card in Maine on August 16th. The booking was first announced by the Bangor Daily News.

Bader (17-4) has won his last two bouts with the most recent coming at the aforementioned UFC 174 where he soundly defeated Rafael Cavalcante by unanimous decision. The TUF winner is 10-4 overall in UFC tenure.

St. Preux (16-5) has won four bouts in a row in the UFC since coming over from Strikeforce. The last three have been finished before the final horn, with the last one coming in Vancouver where his opponent Ryan Jimmo verbally submitted due to a broken arm.

Only a few other bouts for the card have been announced at this time, with the co-main likely to see Tim Boetsch taking on Brad Tavares in a middleweight contest.
