Anthony Johnson vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira official for UFC on Fox 12

New light heavyweight contender Anthony Johnson is set to fight Lil' Nog in July.

The UFC has been busy booking new fights, and this next one is a fairly big one for the light heavyweight division. Mike Chiappetta of Fox Sports confirmed that light heavyweight contender Anthony Johnson is set to fight Antonio Rogerio Nogueira at UFC on Fox 12 in San Jose.

Johnson (17-4) dominated Phil Davis in an upset win at UFC 172 at the end of April. He's 6-0 at light heavyweight (with 1 win against Andrei Arlovski at heavyweight) and is currently placed as the #5 contender in the division. "Rumble" returned to the UFC after a stint with World Series of Fighting.

Nogueira (21-5) hasn't fought since upsetting Rashad Evans at UFC 156 in February 2013, with his UFC career plagued with injuries to the point where he was dropped from the official rankings. Lil' Nog has fought just 6 times in 5 years, and has pulled out of several fights due to injury.

If (and that's a big "if") this fight does go through and both men stay healthy, this is an interesting match-up. Nogueira is obviously a different stylistic match-up compared to Davis and he'd clearly be the best striker Johnson has faced at 205 lbs.

UFC on Fox 12 is scheduled for July 26th at the SAP Center in San Jose, CA. This fight will be on the main card but isn't the main event.
