Here's your UFC feelgood story for the day - Stefan Struve is back. The tallest man in the UFC had been on the sidelines for a long time due to a heart condition, but he has been cleared to fight once again. And he will make his return at UFC 175 against Matt Mitrione. UFC.com has the great news:
Out of action since March of 2013, Stefan Struve will make his long-awaited return to the Octagon on Saturday, July 5, when he faces Matt Mitrione in a heavyweight bout to take place on the UFC 175 card at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
Winner of four of his last five, Struve was sidelined as a precautionary measure due to the discovery of a rare heart condition, but after following doctors' treatment, he was cleared to resume his fighting career, and this summer he will meet Mitrione, who has won two of his last three, most recently a first round knockout of Shawn Jordan in March.
The 26-year-old Struve (25-6) faces a stiff test in Mitrione (7-3) upon his return, and the winner of the bout will be in a good position in the thin heavyweight division. Congrats on your good health Mr. Skyscraper, and welcome back.
