Anderson Silva cleared to fight, says ‘next year, I back’

Former UFC middleweight kingpin Anderson Silva discusses his recovery, and reveals his interest in making a comeback in early 2015.

"The Spider" has officially been cleared to begin training again, and expects him comeback to take place in early 2015.

Former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva spoke with Karyn Bryant of MMA Heat, where he discussed the recovery process, and when he expects to make his return to the octagon.

"I am very excited to be back for training. My doctor in Brazil said my leg is good. I am very happy.

"Next year, I back"

When asked whether he would be interested in a comeback this year, Silva emphasized that he will be focusing on his family and academy for the remainder of the year, and will set his comeback for sometime in 2015.

"I back for next year. This year I no back for fight. I have my plans and family. I am working hard on my academy in Brazil.  So, next year."

Asked if he had someone in mind for his first fight back, Silva smiled and quickly responded, "no."

Silva also revealed that his doctor was not overly impressed with his decision to throw his first leg kick a month ago, but later confirmed that he was ready to embark on the comeback trail.

"My doctor said ‘You crazy?' I said ‘Ya, a little crazy.' "
