Josh Thomson is blaming a rogue phone thief for an early Sunday morning tweet that managed to take jabs at both Nick and Nate Diaz in less than 140 characters. On Sunday evening, Nate Diaz responded, and the No. 6 ranked UFC lightweight is not buying Thomson's story.
The original tweet from Thomson (since deleted) was time stamped at 1:45 a.m. PT and read:
I knocked out your brother, I'll knock ur bitch ass out in San Jose July 26th.Let's do it Bitch, San Jose vs Stockon. Yup, FUCK U NICK DIAZ!— Josh Thomson (@THEREALPUNK) May 4, 2014
Three follow up tweets came less than seven hours later from Thomson.
People that know me, know I wouldn't ever talk about a fighter like this. My phone was stolen last night while at dinner.— Josh Thomson (@THEREALPUNK) May 4, 2014
My apologies to anyone who was offended by the tweets and texts.— Josh Thomson (@THEREALPUNK) May 4, 2014
Diaz responded later Sunday afternoon, and well, he was not buying the excuse or the apology that the No. 4 ranked UFC lightweight Thomson was selling:
Thomson knocked Nate Diaz out at UFC on Fox 7 in April 20, 2013. That event took place at San Jose's HP Pavilion (now SAP Center), the same arena that will play host to UFC on Fox 12 in July.
