Josh Thomson claims phone thief behind Twitter call out of Nick Diaz

Josh Thomson looking to face Nick Diaz 'at any weight he wants' at UFC on Fox 12 in San Jose - or maybe not

After his split decision loss to Benson Henderson in January, veteran fighter Josh Thomson flirted with the idea of retirement. Judging by an early Sunday morning tweet, that idea seems to be firmly behind the 35-year old native of San Jose, CA.

Prior to his loss to Henderson, Thomson (20-6-0-1) earned Knockout of the Night honors when he dispatched Nate Diaz via head kick at UFC on Fox 7. If Thomson gets his desired matchup, he'll be looking to go 2-0 against the Diaz family.

Nick Diaz (26-9-0-1) has not fought since losing a unanimous decision to then UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre in November 2012 in the main event of UFC 158. Since that loss, Diaz has been in a state of semi-retirement, claiming he is only interested in ending that retirement for a "big fight."

Thomson, the former Strikeforce lightweight champion is currently ranked No. 4 in the UFC's lightweight division. However, Thomson seems interested enough in a fight with Diaz, that he is willing to meet the former Strikeforce welterweight champion at "any weight he wants."

UFC on Fox 12 will take place at the SAP Center in San Jose, CA on July 26.

UPDATE:

Thomson followed up the early Sunday morning tweets a few hours later, stating that he did not send the tweet calling out Diaz.
