Saturday May 31, Bloody Elbow presents live fight coverage of Carl Froch vs. George Groves II. HBO Boxing After Dark Froch vs. Groves II airs live on HBO this Saturday, May 31. This fight takes place in the UK, so has a special fight time of 4:00 p.m. ET / PT for US fans. Bloody Elbow will have live fight coverage, including results and discussion, right here.
This is a very exciting fight for a number of reasons. For one, it's a much needed rematch of one of the most controversial fights of 2013. In that fight, underdog George Groves looked like he was on his way to upsetting Carl Froch when a terribly premature referee stoppage suddenly ended the night in Froch's favor. Now, an absolutely massive crowd will gather into Wembley Stadium to cheer the highly popular Froch on to victory. This one will either be a redeeming win for Froch, ideally launching him on to the kind of big Vegas fight he has never had, or it will be the clear win for Groves and potential end of any major dreams of US superstar status for Froch. Big stakes here in this dynamic fight.
Prior to the Froch vs. Groves rematch, HBO will present another very compelling fight from a different locale. Opening the broadcast will be the return of 2012 fighter of the year Nonito Donaire. Donaire's 2013 loss to Guillermo Rigondeaux has many doubting the future of this supremely talented fighter. He now looks to make it two wins in a row after a rebound victory over Vic Darchinyan. He takes on Simpiwe Vetyeka in Macau, China as part of the HBO double-header.
