Following Bloody Elbow's report of sex abuse allegations against Victory Church and pastor Paul Burress, featured in the MMA documentary Fight Church, an official police investigation has been opened.

Earlier this month, Bloody Elbow reported on a series of allegations of sex abuse at Victory Church in Rochester, New York. Victory and head pastor Paul Burress were featured in the very well received documentary about Christian mixed martial arts, Fight Church.

While Victory Church representatives did not speak to us for the story, Bloody Elbow can confirm that the Rochester, New York police department has opened an official police investigation into some of the allegations.

There are obviously lines between some criminal allegations and some allegations that are more a matter of ethical or moral failings, which would be outside the purview of the police department.

But, there have been official complaints made to the police and an investigation is ongoing.

You can read the original report here, which centers on both allegations against Paul Burress as well as allegations that molestation of children by a parishioner was covered up by his father, Joe Burress, during his time leading the church.
