I’m always searching for new ways to learn the wonderful sport of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
Be it an app or DVD, I thirst for knowledge. Needless to say, when I came across the BJJ Video Vault I was anxious to give this app a try and see what it has to offer.
How The BJJ Video Vault Can Improve Your Skills
For anyone serious about competition, this is the app that is something you should add to your iPhone ASAP. Content wise, there is little—if anything—lacking from this outstanding Brazilian Jiu Jitsu resource.
Right when you log onto the application, you’re brought to the main page with a visually pleasing background, and various tabs containing a wealth of information regarding the sport. Each with a specific focus, these tabs range from BJJ Products to BJJ today to even their podcast and facebook page.
While those are nice added bonuses to have for the app, it’s probably not what made you purchase it in the first place. For those who eat, sleep and breathe the sport of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, you’ll be in your happy place when you click on the BJJ Video Vault tab, which will bring you right to the video library that the app provides.
An overwhelming selection of videos—72 pages and counting!—this section provides information aplenty for the grappler serious about his craft!
By simply scrolling through the pages and finding the video you like, you just have to click on the thumbnail and the video will pop up on screen and begin to play! It’s that’s simple!

Going Beyond The Mat & Into The Culture
Even if you are relatively new to the sport of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, there is plenty for you to take in with this app! On top of the pages upon pages of techniques you can learn and add to your arsenal, there are nice pieces that bring things full circle and round out the BJJ Video Vault.
It’s easy to look at this app as a means of only working on your skill—the physical, tangible stuff that you do on the mat—but it’s much more than just that.
For instance, the BJJ Today tab provides various nuggets such as workout and training tips, Q&A sections, and various ways BJJ can be usefull—BJJ for Kids, BJJ for Beginners, BJJ for Women, etc.—which gives this a nice touch and offers the opportunity to learn for almost anyone in the sport.
Chances are as you progress in the sport, and begin to get more serious with it, you’ll likely want to try and test your skills at a competition. A benefit of this app is that is provides schedules for the IBJJF and NAGA.
With just one tap of the screen, you’ll have the entire competition calendar for both organizations in the palm of your hand. Equipped with time, month, location, and type of event, this is no doubt a useful tool for the serious competitors out there that are always looking for the next match.
Simply put, this app is for you as long as you like BJJ. Your belt color or experience level doesn’t matter, as this can be used by anyone.
