Rockhold, who is yet to find out who his next opponent is, spoke with Fight Now TV about his potential match-ups in the near future. While he mentioned the likes of Michael Bisping, Gegard Mousasi, Mark Munoz and Ronaldo Souza, Rockhold referred to a potential Belfort rematch as his "No. 1 pick."
"Bisping's not going to come through. I'm sure of that," Rockhold told Fight Now TV. "Who knows? If Vitor [Belfort] can come back or I'll have to rematch Jacaré [Souza]. Maybe the winner of [Mark] Munoz and [Gegard] Mousasi. I'm not looking to take a step back. I want to move forward. I want to get that title shot. I want to beat whoever's in front of me. Vitor's my No. 1 pick."
Rockhold's UFC debut was against the former light-heavyweight champion, but it did not end in Rockhold's favour, as he received a spinning back kick from the Brazilian that ended the fight unceremoniously in the opening round. While Rockhold has already moved on from that loss, he refuses to accept Belfort's claim at being a "clean" fighter and has no respect for him because of it.
"I don't believe anything the guy says and I don't believe he's clean," said Rockhold. "I think he's been dirty his whole career. I'm going to go out there and say that. Whatever. I'm going to be myself. I'm tired of holding back. I'm going to be real. The real MMA fans know what's going on and if you believe he's clean, or anything that comes out of his mouth, I kind of feel sorry for the people that do. I don't have a lot of respect for the guy.
"I like clean fighters. I like clean sport. I always fight clean and I always have and always will. I don't have a lot of respect for cheaters."
