Kron Gracie, the youngest son of BJJ royalty Rickson Gracie, is set to make his MMA debut later this year. As announced during a press conference on Monday, the 25-year-old grappler has signed with the Chinese-based promotion Real Fight Championship, who is expanding internationally and will be heading to Japan for this event.
A few months back, Kron spoke about his MMA debut and much like most members of his family, he considers it as a way to represent and showcase BJJ again. "Taking fists in the face is not as difficult as I thought. Jiu-Jitsu is a lot harder than Boxing, more complex sport. I'm here to show that Jiu-Jitsu is still the best martial art."
Real Fight has hosted three shows to date, all within Mainland China, and have showcased Chinese stars such as TUF veterans Zhang Lipeng and Yang Jianping, along with former Legend FC champ Yao Honggang.
No opponent has been officially announced, although there are rumors circulating that it could be kickboxer 'Jeinotsu' Yuichiro Nagashima, known to MMA fans for being the cosplayer who knocked out Shinya Aoki in a bizarre 'mixed' rules bout back in 2010.
A specific date for the Japan event was not stated at the presser either, although earlier reports have suggested that the show will happen in August, with fellow BJJ star Gabi Garcia also penned for her MMA debut on the show.
