UFC: Ludwig doesn't think Barao will get an immediate rematch

Ethan Miller

Team Alpha Male coach, Duane Ludwig weighs in on the recent comments from Renan Barao's coaching team.

The aftermath of UFC 173 is running along a supercharged line at present. Following the loss of Renan Barao's Bantamweight title to Team Alpha Male member, T.J. Dillashaw, coaches at Nova União have already started campaigning for an immediate rematch, and they want it to take place in Brazil.

Marlon Sandro was a little more aggressive in his dissatisfaction, taking the UFC to task via his Instagram:

I'm sure you will come back stronger brother, will do whatever it takes to take what you and your back. Tremendous romp that you just did to defend the belt and you do not have time to rest and forced you to fight this bunch of crooks and injustice, but God does not sleep we come back stronger!

I reached out to Duane Ludwig to get his thoughts on the comments made, to which he gave this response:

His last fight was with Faber, and it was a fairly quick fight. It's not like he came out with injuries. It wasn't like he came from a hard fight straight into another hard fight. I'm not saying Faber was an easy fight, but the way that fight ended, with a controversial quick stoppage, left no damage to Renan.

I guess in some contracts, they have immediate rematch clauses, but I don't know about T.J.'s, nor can I comment on it because that stuff is confidential. I don't think it's fair for Barao to get an immediate rematch. That fight wasn't even close, but then, who else is T.J. going to fight? Who is the Number 1 contender? It's still Barao. I know he's gonna need some time to recover, so I doubt he'll be the next guy to challenge for the belt.
