As we previously reported, an injury to Bellator champion Pat Curran has forced a Curran out of his upcoming Bellator 121 main event with Patricio Pitbull. Now, the June 6 card has a new main event and, well, it's a weird one.
Headlining Bellator 121 will be a Heavyweight fight between Eric Prindle and James Thompson. Prindle (8-5(1)) challenged for the Bellator Heavyweight title in 2012. After a solid 7-1 start to his career, he is currently on a 1-4 streak, with that lone win coming outside of Bellator. He is perhaps best known to fans for his two groin kick ending fights with Thiago Santos. James Thompson (19-14(1)) makes his Bellator debut here. The Colossus has fought all over the world including Pride, Dream, Super Fight League, and many more. He's undefeated in his last 5 fights, with wins over Bob Sapp and Bobby Lashley. Thompson will forever be known to fans for having Kimbo Slice blow up his cauliflower ear on national television for EliteXC.
Prindle vs. Thompson headlines a card that also features fights from the Summer Series Light Heavyweight tournament. Three quarterfinals take place on this card: Austen Heidlage (6-1) vs. Phelipe Lins (8-0); Egidijus Valavicius (26-10) vs. Carlos Eduardo (11-3); and on the prelims, Rodney Wallace (21-8) vs. Kelly Anundson (7-2). Liam McGeary has already advanced to the semifinals.
Bellator will follow that show up with Bellator 122 on July 25. That card will wrap up two of the season 10 tournaments, with the Middleweight final between Brett Cooper and Brandon Halsey, and the Andrey Koreshkov vs. Adam McDonough Welterweight final.
As always, Bellator is live on Spike TV.
