Like the majority of elite MMA fighters, Rich Franklin knows exactly how it feels to lose.
The former UFC middleweight champion has had a memorable yet turbulent tenure as a UFC fighter, where he rose to become a champion before suffering a heartbreaking loss to soon-to-be middleweight kingpin Anderson Silva. With a record of 29-7 (1), Franklin has had his fair share of losses in his career, most recently a brutal KO loss to Cung Le back in November 2012.
Franklin chose to take his advice and experience as an elite fighter and offer it to TEDxUChicago, where he was a speaker last month. The Ohio-native discussed his first loss to Anderson Silva, why his win over Travis Lutter UFC 83 stands as his favourite fight, and what it means to become an "effective loser" in MMA.
