The TUF Brazil 3 Finale has been swarmed by the evil injury bug, which has caused a couple of notable fighters to bow out from this card. Having already lost Junior dos Santos and Mike Pierce from the main card, the headlining preliminary card bout has been scrapped. Featherweight Diego Brandao is out of his May 31st fight against Brian Ortega after suffering an undisclosed injury per MMA Fighting's Guilherme Cruz.
You may recall that Brandao (18-9) was scheduled to fight Will Chope in March before Chope was promptly dropped like a scorching hot potato on fight day when his criminal past came to the surface. The UFC promised Brandao a new opponent, which he received, but this injury means he'll have to wait even longer to make his 2014 debut.
As for Ortega (8-0), he's been removed from the card entirely and will be re-booked for a future card (as opposed to those super rare occasions where you're booked for a show in the past).
The main event of the TUF Brazil 3 Finale features Stipe Miocic against late replacement Fabio Maldonado in a five-round heavyweight bout. Additionally, two TUF Brazil champs will be crowned in the middleweight and heavyweight divisions.
