Cutting Weight in Highschool

Okay the first thing I want to dicuss is wrestles cutting weight. On my high school team nearly nobody knows what cutting weight is. A team of 35 kids only about 5 know what a weight cut is. I myself only cut weight for tournaments to 120 pounds from 128.9 pounds. That may not seem like a lot to you mma fans but that was my limit after that I couldn't run anymore, spit, or take a hot bath which for me doesn't work at all. I actually don' understand how fighters can cut 20 to 25 pounds in a day or two that just seems impossible. Another thing is when you have two matches during the week day and then a tournament on Saturday you cannot cut a lot of weight or you will wrestle like sh*t. Are staring 120 for varsity who is now the best wrestler on the team did that and looked sickly. He would also not eat that much and cut anywhere from 15-20 pounds. That is really dumb this he walks around 140 is about 5'8 5'9 and im 5'5 and during the season I can naturally weigh 124 pounds without a weight cut or starving myself. Anyway there were matches where he would look not that good and would be gassed mid way through the first period. I myself noticed that when I didn't cut weight I felt like I could keep a very high pace and actually won a round robin tournament without cutting weight. Okay back to the point. The point is that everyone thinks that wrestles learn about cutting weight from are coaches or just know about it but we don't. The only time my coach will ever tell you to lose weight is if you are on varsity and are no more than 5 pounds over. If you are cutting a lot of weight you just don't tell him or anybody and if you do coach will flip his sh*t. Once during the second match of the year after the weekend I weighed in at 129.2. My coach didn't look at me or talk to me and he already doesn't like me so that sucked. I had to wrestle at 132 when I usually compete at 120 or 126. I got lucky and wrestled some chubby kid about the same height has me and made him my girlfriend for the night. When cutting weight the last 2 pounds are the worst. I would get down to 122 by running and wrestling and sleep off the last 2 pounds. I would wear a t-shirt, therma fit long sleeve shirt, a hoodie, and sweatpants. When running I lose roughly half a pound every 15 minutes which sucks since I know people who could lose 8 pounds in a half hour. After cutting weight trying to sleep is terrible I felt sick and like I was going to vomit all night. I even woke up 3 or 4 times to puke but nothing would come out.The next morning after barely any sleep I feel like a worn gym sock but after I drink a big bottle of gatorade an drink my own homemade smoothie with protein and fruits put into it I feel fine. Another thing I almost forgot to talk about were at the beginning of the season you have to go to certifications to get your weight/body fat measured to see what is the lowest weight you can wrestle at. The week before them I weighted 128.2 pounds. At certs I weighed 119.8. To get to that the only meal I would eat was dinner and for Dinner I had spinach leaves and a grilled chicken breast. That is the most crappy dinner ever so tasteless no doughnuts or any snack which I usually eat every damn day. I also had to wrestle 5 days a week starving and on Thursday and Friday could barely do anything. I felt like a zombie so hungry and in pain I would just sleep through all of my classes. After certifications were over I went to dennys and ate the lumberjack grand slam. Look that up if you don't know what it is. I felt even worse after over eating then starving myself. I felt like I was gonna puke or crap myself all day and my stomach was so bloated I looked pregnant. Okay that's my personal experience with cutting weight hope everyone who reads it some what enjoys it and Always have a great day.
