Glover Teixeira suffered a few different injuries in his UFC 172 light heayweight title shot against Jon Jones, but the biggest one seemed to be to his shoulder. Jones wrenched his arm up in the first round to cause the injury, something that looked like it was going to need to be surgically repaired. According to Teixeira on Twitter though, he has avoided going under the knife - for now:
Great news today from Doc...no surgery needed on my shoulder right now. Thank u everyone for the support!!— glover teixeira (@gloverteixeira) May 14, 2014
Teixeira (22-3) had a 20-fight win streak halted by Jones at the event, but managed to go the full five rounds even with the injuries he accumulated. It'll be interesting to see who he is matched up with next, considering he didn't really have to fight any contenders in the division before his title shot. Perhaps a bout with Phil Davis might make some sense?
