Ronaldo Souza has been on quite the winning streak of late and currently sits near the top of the middleweight ladder. There was a bunch of talk about a title shot after his last win over Francis Carmont, but elbow surgery delayed that to a degree. The former Strikeforce champ says he's ready to return in the summer though, and he's thinking big in terms of a potential opponent (via MMA Fighting):
According Souza's manager, Gilberto Faria, the fighter would like to take on the winner of the UFC 175 title fight between champion Chris Weidman and former light heavyweight champ Lyoto Machida. Barring that, Souza wants to tangle with his controversial fellow Brazilian, Vitor Belfort.
"We are done fighting guys behind us in the rankings," Faria said. "It's time to release the beast."
Jacare (20-3, 1 NC) has won all three of his UFC contests thus far and is on a six-fight winning streak overall. Belfort seems to be holding out for his own title shot but with his well-known TRT issues, Jacare might jump the line and get the winner of the UFC 175 bout instead. I'd definitely like to see that.
