Eddie Alvarez apologizes to Michael Chandler for dissing the Bellator interim title

Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Spor

Bellator LW champ Eddie Alvarez went on the MMA Hour and mocked the Bellator interim title that rival Michael Chandler will be fighting for this Saturday at Bellator 120. Now he's taken to Twitter to apologize.

Bellator Lightweight champ Eddie Alvarez wants everyone to know he didn't mean it when he said the interim title that Michael Chandler will be fighting a very dangerous Will Brooks for is not a "meaningless sh**ty belt" despite the fact that that's just what Alvarez called it on the MMA Hour on Monday.

Alvarez took a little time to think about things -- maybe the concussion that forced him to cancel his scheduled rubber match with Chandler fogged his thinking -- and tweeted a clarification.

Note that Eddie, or Edward as he prefers to be known when he's tweeting, didn't apologize to Chandler, just the organization.

Chandler will be facing Will Brooks on Bellator's inaugural pay-per-view card, Bellator 120, which will now be headlined by Rampage Jackson vs. King Mo Lawal rather than Alvarez vs. Chandler.
