"The Hulk" has made it clear that he is here to stay.
Following his impressive first round KO victory over Ruan Potts last weekend at UFC Fight Night Cincinnati, Soa Palelei announced that he deserved his spot in the UFC and is excited about the opportunity to propel himself further up the rankings.
"I was really pushing to get back in the UFC," Palelei said at the post-fight press conference. "Now I'm here, and I deserve to be here. I'm going to keep learning, keep pushing and keep climbing up the ranks."
Palelei first debuted in the promotion at UFC 79, where he lost a third round TKO to Eddie Sanchez. It would take him six years and an eight fight winning streak to earn his ticket back to UFC. Now, Palelei is riding an 11-fight win streak, all of which ended in T/KO.
"My last 11 fights have been knockouts, and my ground-and-pound, if I get on top of you, you're not going anywhere. It's one of those that it's always good to get a win like that."
Palelei has no opponent in mind for his next octagon outing, but stated that he is prepared to face anyone that UFC matchmaker Joe Silva places in front of him.
"We'll see what happens with my management team and Joe Silva. Whoever they want me to fight, I'll fight. I'm here to stay - not for today, but for a long time. I deserve to be here the same as other guys here."
