Following Matt Brown's thrilling victory over Erick Silva at UFC Fight Night Cincinnati, UFC President Dana White suggested that "The Immortal" will likely get something "big" in his next octagon outing.
"We are going to give him something big, something fun and he is always fun to watch," White said at the post-fight press conference. "He gets better every time he fights and he killed it tonight."
Brown has been vocal about his intent to fight for a World Championship in the near future, and quickly approached White after his big win on Saturday to pressure him into revealing his next fight.
"Yeah, I told him to quit acting like the media, I have been on the road for six weeks. Let me get home and figure it out. There's no doubt that Matt Brown is exciting, but the reason that Brown is not there right now is because he got injured before the fight with Carlos Condit and that was a fight that would have put him right there."
When asked whether Brown could get possible match-ups with either Hector Lombard, who is ranked one spot ahead of Brown in the rankings at No. 6, or Nick Diaz, who fought for a title in his last two fights in the UFC, White stated that while Lombard is a possibility, he doubts that Diaz will be fighting anytime soon.
"Yeah, that is possible. Obviously Hector is ranked at No. five or six and no sign of Diaz - no sign of both Diaz brothers. We will see what happens; I think Nate would have a better possibility of fighting before Nick. Until those guys call me then I don't even think about them. We offered fights to Nate and Nick is in retirement."
