Hackleman responds to Jones' instagram of Liddell cageside: 'don’t be a douchebag'

Scott Cunningham

Glover Teixeira's head coach, John Hackleman, had a lot to talk about post UFC 172, including some responses to Jon Jones in and out of the cage behavior.

Before UFC 172, Jon Jones and John Hackleman had some beef. Not a lot, but a little. It all started when allegations that Jones was overlooking Glover reached Hackleman's ears at The Pit. He surmised that Jones' attitude "maybe why, you know, people don't love him like they did Chuck." Jones' response was nothing if not measured, telling Hackleman, first and foremost, that he's "not Chuck Liddell." Liddell, for his part, had his own barbs, mostly reminiscing about what a younger self might have done to an opponent like Jones.

It was all an opportunity too good to pass up for the champ, when he finished smashing Glover Teixeira and decided to post a picture of a noticeably downtrodden Liddell, as he watched the fight from cageside. Apparently that was just the ticket to open old wounds, as Hackleman spoke to Fight Hub TV about the photo.

I hope that Jon's not posting pictures or doing anything like that. I feel that is disrespectful if he is and not very humble and Christian of him and how he wants us to perceive him. I don't know, maybe it is his manager or someone in his circle trying to stir the pot or something but that is a douche move. If he (Jon Jones) did do it or does know about it, I would take them down and have some more respect and I hope it is not him, I have a lot of respect for him. If he knows about it, don't be a douchebag and do that - take the pictures down, show a little more respect and treat this like a martial art.

Of course, that's not all he had to say. He also spoke about whether or not Jones used "dirty fighting" (the general consensus seemed to be no) and had a lot to say about Chuck Liddell, and Court McGee, and the other fighters at The Pit and what they're up to. It's a great interview and well worth a read, so check out the whole thing here.

Otherwise, it appears that this may be a war of words that's not going away. We'll be sure to keep you posted with any continuing updates.
