Paul Daley first got the attention of some American fans with a 2nd round TKO of renown striker Duane Ludwig on the main card portion of Strikeforce: Shamrock vs. Baroni. He then saw a fast track up the welterweight division as he filled in for an injured Mike Swick, resulting in a 1st round TKO of Martin Kampmann.
Only 3 fights in the UFC and he was thrust into a title eliminator in the now infamous bout with Josh Koscheck. Daley was sent packing and would find mixed results in his new home of Strikeforce. High points being a stunning face-plant KO of Scott Smith and the incredible 1 round war with Nick Diaz. A loss to Kazuo Misaki after getting blanketed by Tyron Woodley and Daley was handed his Strikeforce/UFC walking papers.
Since, "Semtex" has gone 8-1 (3-0 kickboxing, 5-1 MMA) with all the victories coming by (T)KO. Daley's only loss was to recent UFC signee and Russian rapper Alexander Yakovlev. Here's a few highlights:
Paul Daley's fight over the weekend on April 5th. His 3rd kickboxing bout of 2014
15 second knockout
A vicious "corner-cam" ground and pound knock out, to say the least
And here's a playlist of 7 of Daley's TKOs in chronological order since the release with some 'fan-cams' mixed in (missing Shaun Lomas kickboxing)
Daley might be venturing into the kickboxing world, but I still would love to see him back in the UFC or any MMA in general. Plenty of options for potentially great fights (E. Silva, Matt Brown, Wonderboy, Saffiedine, Lim)
